DUKES CLOSE SEASON AT LEAGUE-LEADING WAGNER: Duquesne (5-5, 3-4), which saw its Northeast Conference title hopes dashed in a loss at Robert Morris on Nov. 3, will still have a say in the 2012 championship chase when it heads to Staten Island, N.Y. to face Wagner (7-3, 6-1) on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 12:00 p.m. (WMNY-AM 1360). The Dukes, who dropped a 38-31 decision to Albany (8-2, 6-1) at home last weekend, will be followed closely by the Great Danes who need a DU win combined with a home victory over CCSU (1:00 p.m.) on Saturday afternoon to claim the title. The scenario is simpler for Wagner, defeat Duquesne and they secure the NEC crown and NCAA Championship automatic bid. DU, which trailed 35-7 at the half, outscored Albany 24-3 in the second half in dropping its third consecutive game. Senior Sean Patterson threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another in his final home game. Senior running back Larry McCoy (4,474 career rushing yards), gained 69 yards to pass Wagner's Rick Sarille (4,460 from 1996-99) and become the NEC's No. 2 all-time rusher. McCoy enters Saturday's game needing five yards to become the first three-time 1,000-yard rusher in school history. Patterson (2,183/17) needs three TD passes to join Niel Loebig (2001-04) and Tony Zimmerman (1998-00) as the only signal-callers in school history to post 2,000 yards passing and throw for 20 TDs in three seasons.
