PITTSBURGH - Duquesne sophomore quarterback Sean Patterson (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) was named Northeast Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Duquesne's 41-17 win over Saint Francis on Saturday.

Patterson had a hand in all six Duquesne scores with five touchdown passes (79, 44, 10, 10 & 9 yards) and a two-yard TD run as the Dukes clinched a winning record for the 2010 season. No NEC player had been responsible for more than four touchdowns in any game this season until Patterson's outburst on Saturday.

Averaging 13.2 yards per attempt, Patterson completed 13-of-21 passes for 278 yards and added 38 yards on seven rush attempts. His first touchdown pass, a 79-yarder to Dave Williams, wiped out Saint Francis' 3-0 lead in the opening minute of the second quarter. With Duquesne trailing again, 10-7, Patterson found Connor Dixon for a 44-yard scoring strike 9:55 before halftime to give DU the lead for good.

The Ohio native's five touchdown passes were one shy of the school record. Patterson is just the fourth player in school history to throw for five or more scores in a Football Championship Subdivision game.

This is the second NEC honor for Patterson who was also recognized after throwing for 326 yards and three TDs in a win over Dayton on Sept. 11.

Patterson's award brings Duquesne's season total to seven NEC Player's of the Week: Patterson (Sept. 13 & Nov. 15), sophomore running back Larry McCoy (Oct. 11), senior receiver Dave Williams (Oct. 25), senior linebacker Nathan Totino (Sept. 7 & Oct. 25) and sophomore linebacker Serge Kona (Sept. 27).

Duquesne (6-4, 4-3) concludes the 2010 season at Bryant (7-3, 4-3) on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Noon.
