Kuntz Finishes 12th in Buck Buchanan Award Voting

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne senior linebacker Christian Kuntz finished 12th among 25 finalists for the 2016 Buck Buchanan Award which is to be presented on Jan. 6 in Frisco, Texas.
The Buchanan Award, named for the legendary defensive lineman from Grambling State, is presented annually to the FCS Defensive Player of the Year.
Kuntz, the two-time NEC Defensive Player of the Year, finished with 71 points in voting of a national panel of over 150 sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries.
The Pittsburgh native finished his career as the conference's all-time leading sack leader with 30.5.Kuntz led the NEC in sacks (11.5) and tackles for loss (24.0) this season.
Duquesne is one of just four FCS schools, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville State and Sam Houston State are the others, with players on the Watch Lists for the three major FCS individual awards.
