2017 HERO Sports Sophomore All-Americans

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne running back A.J. Hines (Wilson, N.C./Fike) was named a 2017 HERO Sports First Team Sophomore All-American, the organization announced earlier today.

Hines, a two-time First Team All-NEC performer, closed out his second season with the Dukes with 1,038 rushing yards on 182 carries with 10 touchdowns. He ranked sixth in the country averaging 115.3 rushing yards per game on the year.

The Wilson, N.C. native registered six 100-yard rushing games and scored at least two touchdowns in four contests.

This marks Hines' second All-American nod from HERO Sports after he was named a Freshman All-American by the organization last season. He was also the recipient of the STATS FCS Jerry Rice Award, presented to the most outstanding freshman in the FCS.

After two seasons with the Dukes, he is eighth in Duquesne history with 2,329 career rushing yards with 23 touchdowns.
