JOSH RUE

Josh Rue

Joshua Rue's second NFL season on the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad was ended on November 22, 2004 when his contract was terminated following his arrest on suspicion of domestic abuse.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound fullback, who last played for the Dukes in 2001, was re-signed by the Arizona Cardinals in March 2004 for the upcoming season. Rue had been a member of the Cardinals' practice squad for the first 15 weeks of the 2003 season before being re-signed to the 53-man roster for the final two games when he was inactive.

Rue, who had been waived by Arizona on August 30, 2003 as the team reduced their active roster to the required 53-man regular season limit, was signed to the practice squad on Monday, September 1, 2003.

Rue was signed by the Miami Dolphins on April 28, 2003 following the completion of the 2003 NFL draft. He was waived by the Dolphins on Monday, July 28th and was signed by the Cardinals one week later on August 4, 2003.

The Pittsburgh Gateway High School alum was a two-time All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Football League selection in 2000-01 and was named the 1999 MAAC Co-Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1999. In three seasons for the Dukes, Rue rushed for 1,668 yards and 25 touchdowns on 262 attempts, caught 27 passes for 518 yards and five touchdowns and returned 25 kickoffs for 497 yards. A defensive end on defense, he collected 12 tackles and seven quarterback sacks.

Rue's last game action was in Duquesne's 2001 season during which he carried the ball 122 times for 916 yards and 12 TDs. His 7.51 yards per carry average was just shy of the NCAA Division I-AA record of 7.52 set by Adrian Peterson of Georgia Southern in 1998. Rue set Duquesne single game records when he ran for 317 yards rushing and posted 409 all-purpose yards in that season's win over Canisius. Rue was not academically eligible for the 2002 season.
