Atlantic 10 Names 104 Duquesne Student-Athletes to Commissioner's Honor Roll

The Atlantic 10 today announced the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Fall 2009 semester, honoring each student-athlete in the Atlantic 10 with a 3.5 grade point average or better.

Duquesne University today announced a strategic restructuring of its varsity sports program in an effort to maximize financial resources and ensure sustained athletic success. The move will reduce the number of varsity sports from 20 to 16 and keep all related scholarship and operational funding within the athletic department.

Duquesne's golf team completed the fall portion of its schedule with a 12th place finish at the 17-team Dayton Invitational. Freshman Brian Luke finished first for the Dukes and 37th in the 98-golfer field with a score of 78-77-155.

Dukes Place Fifth at RMU Invitational

Duquesne's golf team finished fifth of 10 teams at the Robert Morris Invitational, Oct. 12-13. Junior Ben Wolfe and sophomore Reid Griffith paced the Dukes and finished tied for 16th overall with scores of 158.

Red and Blue Finish 11th at SBU Invite

Duquesne's golf team completed its second event and fifth round of golf in four days, by finishing 11th at the St. Bonaventure Invitational. Junior Ben Wolfe led the Dukes and placed 33rd of 72 golfers with a two-round score of 75-79-154.

Dukes Open 2009-10 Season at Bucknell Invitational

Duquesne's golf team opened the 2009-10 season with a 12th place showing at the two-day, three-round Bucknell Invitational. Junior Ben Wolfe led the Dukes and finished third overall with a three-round score of 70-73-72-215.

Duquesne's golf team wrapped up the 2008-09 campaign with a 10th place showing at the Atlantic 10 Championship in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. Senior Brian Sidone led the Red and Blue with a three-day score of 78-82-77-237 to finish 31st in the 60-golfer field.

Sixty Percent of DU Student-Athletes Earn Spot on Director of Athletics Honor Roll

Duquesne's student-athletes continued to exhibit excellence in the classroom this fall as 60 percent of all athletic participants posted a GPA of 3.0 or better. In all, 92 student-athletes posted a GPA of 3.5 or higher (21%). Five of the 20 athletic teams whose athletes were honored posted a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher led by women's cross country (3.62). The cumulative GPA for all athletes recognized was 3.27.
