Dukes Open Spring At Rain-Shortened GW Invite
April 3, 2005
Issue, Maryland - Duquesne University's golf team opened the 2005 spring schedule with a 12th place finish at the rain-shortened 25-team George Washington Invitational Sunday at Swan Point Yacht & Country Club on Maryland's Western Shore. The event was limited to 18 holes because of poor weather conditions in the Washington, D.C. area Saturday. Junior Andrew Kwiatkowski's 77, four strokes behind the leaders, tied for 18th to pace the Dukes. Senior Mike Namey and freshman Jon Pratkanis carded 79s, good for 42nd place. Cold, wet conditions made the Swan Point Yacht & Country Club course play even longer than its posted par 72, 6,761 yards.
DU returns to action next weekend when the team competes in the Lafayette Invitational. The 36-hole event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 8th and 9th, at the Center Valley Country Club.
