Easton, Pa. - Duquesne University's golf team tied for seventh place in the weather-shortend, 24-team Lafayette Invitational, Saturday at Center Valley Golf Club. Teams were only able to get in one round in the intended three-day event.

Sophomore Drew Ellis (Carnegie, PA / Carlynton) and freshman Mike Hartman (Shaler, PA / Shaler) tied for 19th in the 124-golfer competition with six-over par 78s on the 6,916 yard course. Sophomore Brian Sidone (Ebensburg, PA / Central Cambria) was one stroke back in a tie for 30th.

The Dukes tied with Monmouth, three shots behind sixth place Canisius. Lehigh won the title, seven points in front of second place Bucknell.

Only two players broke par. Bucknell's Charles Waddell's two-under par 70 edged Lehigh's Alan Borowsky one-under round.

This was the final event before the Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament which will be held in, hopefully, more-favorable weather conditions in Winter Garden, Fla. The three-day event will begin on Friday, May 4, 2007, on the Orange County National Golf Course in the Orlando, Fla. area. This is the second year the Conference has held the event in Winter Garden.
