Winter Garden, Fla. - Duquesne's men's golf team cut 12 strokes from Friday's first round score and moved up two spots after day two of the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship at the Orange County (FL) National Golf Center.
All five Duquesne players put up lower scores on Saturday, led by Mike Hartman who dropped his score by a team-high seven strokes. Drew Ellis again put in DU's top mark, a two-over par 74 for a two-day total of 150 and 34th place in the 60-athlete competition.
The Dukes are now in 10th place, ahead of Fordham and La Salle.
Charlotte maintained the team lead at this three-day event, though Xavier is now just one stoke back. Xavier's Alan Glynn posted the day's best round, an eight-under par 64 which, as was true for the 49ers' Matt Mincer yesterday, was one stroke off the par 72, 6,849-yard Panther Lake course record. Mincer, who shot a 2-under 70 Saturday, holds the individual lead with a 36-hole total of 134 (10 under par).
The final round of the 54-hole league championship tournament will take place on Sunday, May 6, 2007, at the same Florida golf club. Tee times will start at 8:00 a.m. on both the first and tenth tees.
