Dukes Tie Host Bonnies For 1st At Tournament

Olean, N.Y. - Duquesne University's golf team tied for the title at the 15th Annual St. Bonaventure Leo Keenan Invitational at Bartlett Country Club. Both teams finished with two-round scores of 595 and the host Bonnies won the NCAA-standard tiebreaker of fifth man score. The Bonnies' high round on Monday was 77 compared to Duquesne's 79.
Freshman Jon Merriott led with Dukes with a fifth place score of 147, seven over par. Senior Steve Seiden tied for eighth with a two-round tally of 148. The Media, Pa. upperclassman had the Dukes best round, a par 70 on Sunday. Junior Tom Hungerford's round of 73 was the best score on Monday.
The Dukes next competition is the Duquesne Invitational next Sunday and Monday, Sept. 28-29, 2003, at the Champion Lakes Golf Club in Ligoneer, Pa.
