Dukes 8th Of 15 After Day 1 At St. Bona Invite

Olean, N.Y. - Duquesne University's men's golf team finished day one of the 17th St. Bonaventure Leo Keenan Invitational at Bartlett Country Club Sunday in a tie for eighth place among the 15 teams. Freshman Drew Ellis (Carnegie, PA / Carlynton) led the Dukes with a two-over par 72, tied for 11th place in the 80-golfer competition. Sophomore Ryan D'Onofrio (Denver, CO / Pomona) is one stroke back, in a tie for 14th. The host Bonnies are in first place with a tournament record-breaking team score of two-over par 282, which broke the previous Kennan mark (set by SBU in 2001) by six strokes. The Dukes round of 299 (+19) placed them in a tie with Robert Morris, two strokes back of sixth place Binghamton and Bucknell. The Bonnies Brennan Payne, Binghamton's Aaron Ungvarsky, Long Island's Patrick Kelly and Drexel's Keith Synder are tied for first place with a one-under par 69.
