Dukes Sweep Rutgers in Weekend Series

Oct. 20, 2003

Duquesne improved to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in ECHA play as they swept visiting Rutgers this weekend. The Ice Dukes defeated the Scarlet Knights 7-1 on Saturday and 4-2 on Sunday.

Freshman winger Michael Papciak went on a scoring frenzy, recording three goals and two assists on Saturday and two goals and one assist on Sunday. Mike Bender, Anthony Mazza and Brian Morton also added two assists in Saturday's win. Sophomores Ryan Hagerty and Clint Hazen both saw ice time in goal with Hagerty allowing just two goals in four periods and Hazen giving up one in two periods.

The Red and Blue return to action this weekend as they play a home-and-home series with West Virginia.
