Josh Faga, a former standout player at Marist who has also competed at the professional level, joined the men's soccer coaching staff in August of 2014.

The third-year coach made his presence felt in year one by helping the Dukes put together an attack that led the Atlantic 10 Conference in both scoring offense and points per game. Last year, Faga helped DU to a tie for fourth in the A-10 and return appearance to the Atlantic 10 Championship.

At Duquesne, Faga is tasked with organizing the team periodization, opponent analysis, video analysis, tactical developments, and various roles in the execution of training. In addition to his tactical contributions, Faga is a Specialist in Strength and Conditioning (SSC) through the International Sports Sciences Association as well as a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He collects wellness data and manages training loads through daily data collection from each player. In 2015, Faga completed the World Football Academy Mentorship certification that covered aspects of periodization, complex systems theory, and soccer fitness.

In 2016, Faga spent time with the Feyenoord Rotterdam U19 team in Rotterdam, Netherlands during the World Football Academy Expert meeting that involved some of the best managers and coaches in the world including Guus Hiddink, Dick Advocaat, and his mentor Raymond Verheijen. In 2017, Faga again completed the course in Lisbon, Portugal working with the SL Benfica U16 Academy team.

Faga is also a co-host of the very popular coaching podcast the Just Kickin It' Podcast that he hosts with Brian Shrum, the Associate Head Coach of the Women's soccer team at Duquesne. They started the show in 2015 and have interviewed over 100 of the best coaches in soccer over the last few years.

An All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference player as an undergrad, Faga signed his first professional contract with the Rochester Rhinos (USLPRO) in March of 2013 and played for the Rhinos prior to moving on to the Rochester Lancers of the MASL where he competed up until being hired by Duquesne.

Faga began his collegiate career at St. John's where he played in 19 games, with 11 starts, as a redshirt freshman for the Red Storm's 2009 Big East championship team and NCAA tournament qualifier. A Big East All-Academic honoree, he was a redshirt when SJU made its run to the 2008 College Cup semifinal.

Faga also earned all-academic honors while at Marist.

Born in Lexington, Ky., Faga was raised in Rochester, N.Y. where he played soccer and wrestled for McQuaid Jesuit High School. He spent time in Florence, Italy as a youth where his interest in soccer flourished. Faga is currently getting his Professional Coaching License through the Argentina Football Association (AFA).

He completed his undergraduate degree in business marketing at Marist in 2012 and added a MBA in strategic management, also from Marist, in 2013.
