Olav Hovstad's goal in the 100th minute led the Duquesne men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Saint Francis U in the 2016 season opener Friday night at Rooney Field.

The Red Flash got on the board first with 14 seconds remaining until halftime. SFU's Mario Mastrangelo's passed to Troye Kiernan who found Renan Fuentes on a give-and-go, beating Kozlowski low on the left side.

The Dukes got the equalizer in the 49th minute when Chris Alescio collected the loose ball in the box and tapped it past Red Flash keeper Marcus Rojas.

The score remained level at the end of regulation.

In overtime, SFU had the first chance to score when Jack Webber's header in the box was stopped by Kozlowski in the 95th minute.

The game ended when Hovstad headed a Ryan Landry pass past Rojas with 51 seconds remaining in the period.

DUQUESNE HEAD COACH Chase Brooks: Tonight was great performance from our guys through and through. We have a resilient group of players -- this is one of the hardest working teams I have been associated with and that's an exciting thing. We know we're going to have the ability to fight against anybody in the country anywhere, anytime -- no matter what the score. We're going to be there for 90 minutes. We're going to enjoy the night and get back to work tomorrow.

NEXT UP: The Dukes travel to Lexington, Ky. to face the University of Kentucky on Tuesday night. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. and the match will be streamed on WatchESPN.
