HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dukes, who outshot the Huskies 15-0 in the opening 45 minutes, applied pressure early with three shots in the first four minutes.
Noah Mehta hit the crossbar on a long drive in the eighth minute.
Tyrese Edwards, who entered the game in the 29th minute, took a cross from Liam Harmon and had a shot from inside the six turned away by a Taylor Lesage right hand in the 30th minute.
Fredrik Borenstein, who entered the game with Edwards, hit the right post one minute later.
Jallah Acqui broke the ice when he took a straight-line pass from Olav Hovstad and chipped it over a charging Lesage from 30 yards out in the 36th minute. It was the second goal in as many games for the DU sophomore.
The Dukes took a 2-0 lead when Hovstad headed a drive from Austin Stout into the left corner in the 57th minute.
Just under three minutes later, George Poppas took a cross from Acqui and beat Lesage to the left corner to make it 3-0.
Edwards took a pass from fellow freshman Jesper Evensen down the right side and beat Lesage in the 76th minute.
Evensen and Edwards combined again for another goal in the 78th minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Robbie McKelvey, who was making his first career appearance in net, and Scott Rissler combined to post the team shutout.
Duquesne's five goals tied its high under Chase Brooks (5-0 at St. Bonaventure on Oct. 12, 2014).
