Dukes Fall to Delaware, 2-1 at Pitt Invite
Duquesne's men's soccer team struck first against Delaware with a goal in the 40th minute by Joshua Patterson but could not hold the lead in a 2-1 loss in day one action of the Pitt Invitational.
After 38 scoreless minutes, Patterson took a rebound from a Simon Gomez shot and save and buried his team-leading third goal of the season for a 1-0 advantage at the intermission. Gomez registered his second assist of the season on the play.
The Blue Hens however evened the score in the 47th minute and tallied the game-winner in the 76th minute to capture the victory.
Freshman Sam Frymier recorded a career-best 10 saves in the contest as Duquesne outshot Delaware, 17-14 and had a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.
The Dukes return to action on Sunday, Sept. 9 as they face IPFW at noon.
