Easton, Pa. - Duquesne University's men's soccer team shutout Lehigh, 1-0, in the opening game of the Lafayette Puma Soccer Classic Friday evening at Metzgar Fields. Junior Steve Mellor broke a scoreless tie in the 82nd minute of play.

Sophomore Noah Salsi's play was deflected by Lehigh goalie Jim Bishop which Mellor put in the back of the net for his first score of the season. Junior Andrew Bell also assisted on the goal. Salsi and Mellor led the Dukes with four shots each as the Red and Blue outshot the Mountain Hawks (1-1), 10-5. Sophomore goalie Zach Varga had three saves in his second shutout of the season and ninth of his career.

The Dukes (2-1) will face host Lafayette at 12:00 noon on Sunday, September 12th. The Leopards (3-1) defeated Rider (0-3), 2-1, in Friday's second game of the tournament.
