QUICK RECAP: Freshman Ian Larson made his first shot as a Duke a memorable one as he beat Colgate keeper Ricky Brown to the short side in the 71st minute to give Duquesne a 1-0 win in the second round of the CU Inaria Cup. The win both snapped a three-game Colgate (3-2-1) win streak and gave the Dukes (2-3-1) a tie and a win in the two-day event which started on Friday. DU took advantage of a Colgate turnover in its end as Fredrik Borenstein found Larson on the left side to set up the game-winner. Sam Frymier stopped a pair of shots in posting his second consecutive shutout for the Dukes who tied Cornell 0-0 in double overtime on Friday night. Frymier’s biggest stop came in the first half when a Colgate shot from 25 yards out hit the crossbar and bounded back to Ethan Kutler who had his shot stopped by Frymier. Colin Phillips led the Dukes with three shots, including two of DU’s four shots on goal. Diego Vieira had the other shot on goal for the Dukes. Duquesne had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks, but was unable to get a shot on goal in the first half. Colgate had the lone shot on goal - from Kutler - in the opening 45 minutes. Duquesne outshot Colgate 13-9 and finished with eight corners to three for the Raiders. The win upped Duquesne’s road record to 2-0-1. Phillips, Frymier and Bendik Hellstroem were all named to the CU Inaria Cup All-Tournament Team.
