Niagara, N.Y. - Duquesne's men's soccer team grabbed a 2-1 overtime victory over the Niagara Purple Eagles Sunday afternoon on Niagara Field. NU opened the scoring midway through the second period before the Dukes tied the game with about seven minutes left in regulation.

In overtime, senior Noah Salsi took a pass in the box from another upperclassman, Brian Bartek, and shot it into the lower left side past Niagara keeper Jason Whitehead for the win. Whitehead took over the Purple Eagle goal in the second half.

Latim Bitek broke the scoreless tie on a rebound from a free kick with 75:19 on the clock. Sophomore Evan Browne knotted the game at 1-1 on a pass from classmate Bryan Matthews. Salsi scored the winning goal in the fourth minute of overrtime.

Senior Zach Varga recorded two saves while James McKenna's one save in the first half was it for the Purple Eagles.

The Dukes, who won their first game in western New York this weekend, are now 5-3-1 while NU is 2-5-0.

Duquesne opens the conference schedule next Saturday, September 30, 2006, when they travel to St. Louis, Mo. for an 8:30 p.m. match against the 3-3-1 Billikens.
