Coraopolis, Pa. - In a meeting between two Pittsburgh area men's soccer teams ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Mid-Atlantic Region, no. 4 Duquesne picked up a 1-0 shutout over #8 Robert Morris Friday afternoon at RMU's North Athletic Complex.

Sophomore Garrett MacKenzie (Carnegie, PA / Chartiers Valley) scored the game-winner, his first goal of the season, in the 70th minute of play. MacKenzie came streaking through the box from the right side of the field and redirected a pass from senior Steve Mellor (Langhorne, PA /Neshaminy) into the back of the net for the game's only goal.

The 6-2-0 Dukes outshot RMU 14-10; half of the Colonials' shots came in the last 15 minutes of the game. DU junior Zach Varga (Mountville, PA / Hempfield) recorded three saves on the way to his fourth shutout of the year and 17th of his career. Matt Felice had five saves for Robert Morris (4-4-0).

Duquesne's Atlantic 10 home opener is next Friday, October 7, 2005 against Saint Joseph's (1-5-0) at 7:30 p.m. at Rooney Field.
