Dukes Tie Richmond in Atlantic 10 Opener, 1-1

The men's soccer team saw its record go to 5-1-3, 0-0-1 in the Atlantic 10 with a 1-1, double-overtime tie versus visiting Richmond on Rooney Field.

Playing in rainy, windy conditions, Richmond took a 1-0 lead into the half on a goal in the 21st minute. Duquesne came back to tie the game in the second frame with a direct kick goal by senior Nathan Salsi from 30 feet out to end the day's scoring.

Duquesne dominated play for most of the game, outshooting the Spiders 29-12 and leading in corner kicks, 11-3. Senior goalkeeper Terry McNelis made six saves for the Dukes.

The Red and Blue return to action on Sunday, Oct. 6 as they host George Washington at 1:00 pm on Rooney Field.
