Five different Dukes scored goals and Jared Gentile tallied three assists as the men's soccer team secured a 5-1 Atlantic 10 victory over visitng Rhode Island Sunday afternoon at Rooney Field.
URI tied the contest though in the 58th minute to tie the score, setting up a wild final 23 minutes.
The Red and Blue took the lead for good in the 77th minute as Colin Phillips scored his first collegiate goal in front of the net off a corner kick from Gentile. Gentile and Joshua Patterson assisted on Gomez's sixth goal of the season in the 86th minute before Gomez was fouled in the box, setting up a penalty kick in the 88th minute.
Patterson took the penalty shot and scored his sixth goal of the season and fourth of the weekend. Nick DiSomma scored his first collegiate goal a minute later off of another Gentile assist to end the scoring.
Colin Thorp made seven saves for the Dukes.
Duquesne returns to action on Friday, Oct. 28 as it hosts Temple at 7:00 pm.
