Rhode Island Shuts Out Dukes, 4-0

Kingston, R.I. - Duquersne University's men's soccer team dropped an Altantic 10 Conference match to Rhode Island, 4-0, Friday night in New England. The Dukes are now 10-6-1, 5-3-0 in A-10 play.

The Rams (10-4-4, 7-1-0) scored three goals in the first half and added the fourth and final score five minutes after the break.

Senior Noah Salsi led the Dukes with two shots-on-goal. Reshirt freshman Patrick Finnegan relieved senior Zach Varga in the 38th minuite of play and recorded two saves. The URI duo of Chris Pennock and Mark Sauter stopped all of DU's six shots that were headed to the net.

Duquesne will visit Massachusetts (8-7-3, 2-5-1), Sunday, October 29, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. for the final game of the regular season. The Minutemen lost to Saint Louis, 3-1, tonight in Amherst, Mass.

The Dukes, with 15 points, have clinched a spot in their fifth straight Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament.
