Duquesne's men's soccer season came to an abrupt ending as #18 Charlotte was awarded a penalty kick in the 90th minute and scored the winning goal with just 18 seconds remaining for a 2-1 win over the Dukes in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship Thursday evening.

The game opened as Charlotte scored just one minute into the contest for an early advantage. The Dukes responded quickly as Joshua Patterson fired a shot off the post in the 15th minute and Martin Fiemawhle gathered the rebound an scored to knot the match at 1-1.

No further scoring would occur however until the fateful game-winning penalty kick for the 49ers.
