Dukes Lose to Owls in Sudden Death at A-10 Semifinals
Nov. 14, 2003 The Duquesne University men's soccer team lost in sudden death overtime to Temple in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship. Temple took an early 1-0 lead in the 11th minute of the game, but the Dukes bounced back to tie it 1-1 on a Steve Mellor goal off an assist from Damien Pottinger in the 48th minute. That score held through the rest of regulation and two overtime periods before Temple outscored the Dukes 5-4 in penalty kicks.
The 17th-ranked Dukes finished the regular season at 13-3-3 and will find out Monday if they will receive an invitation to the NCAA Championships.
