Duquesne Extends Wade Jean's Contract
Feb. 13, 2004
Duquesne University Director of Athletics Brian Colleary announced today that men's soccer coach Wade Jean has agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2006-07 academic year.
"We're very pleased to have Wade back for another three seasons," Colleary said. "He has done a magnificent job building the men's soccer program to its current level. We look forward to more anticipated success."
Jean, currently in his sixth season as the Dukes' coach, has vastly elevated the status of the Duquesne program during his tenure. He has compiled a 56-43-13 record at Duquesne including a 26-6-8 slate over the past two seasons. In 2003, he led the Red and Blue to the school's first ever Atlantic 10 regular season championship and a second straight A-10 tournament appearance. Jean, a two-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, has led the Dukes to the Atlantic 10 Championship a total of three times and the championship game twice.
"I want to thank Mr. Colleary and the University administration for their commitment to the men's soccer program," said Jean. "This commitment will allow us to continue to achieve our goal of moving the program in a positive direction."
Jean returns eight starters and 18 lettermen from a 2003 squad that posted a 13-3-3 record and finished the season ranked 25th in the nation. He also recently announced the addition of five highly touted newcomers for the 2004 campaign.
