AGUA CALIENTE, Honduras - The Duquesne men's and women's soccer teams recently donated over 30 soccer balls to children in Honduras. The soccer ball drive was spearheaded by women's soccer manager Eric Balash, who came up with the idea after meeting Matt Burnett in one of his classes.

Burnett founded Pure Thirst, an organization that provides clean water to areas of the world who do not have access to it. Having made prior trips to Honduras, Burnett and his organization would play soccer with the local children at night. However, the children did not have many soccer balls to play with.

When Balash learned that Pure Thirst recently raised $22,000 to install a treatment system in Agua Caliente, Honduras and Burnett was going travel to there over spring break, he began the soccer ball drive. Players from both the men's and women's donated their personal balls to the cause.
