After opening the spring season with a hard fought 1-0 defeat to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Highmark Stadium, the Dukes closed out the spring campaign undefeated over their final four games, scoring an impressive 11 goals in those matches.

Thomas de Villardi led the way for the Dukes with four goals and an assist, while Martin Fiemawhle contributed three goals to the high powered offense.

"When we analyzed our play from the fall, we felt an area we needed to improve on was in our attacking third. We used this spring to focus on our attacking play with particular emphasis on quick ball movement, quick combination play and movement off the ball," said Head Coach Chase Brooks.

Despite the emphasis on the attacking phase of the game, the Dukes defense continued their strong play from the fall season, conceding only three goals with the Sam Frymier and Evan Kozlowski combination posting two shutouts in goal.

"We played a good spring schedule and were able to get a lot of guys playing time who did not have many minutes this past fall. It was a pleasure to watch our guys play and by the end of the spring, know that no matter who we put in the game, they were ready to contribute in a positive way," noted Coach Brooks.

The Dukes will open their 2014 campaign on Friday, August 29th at Marshall University with a kick-off set for 7pm.
