PITTSBURGH -- Duquesne men's soccer will play at home a school record-tying 10 times as part of its 2018 schedule released today.
The Dukes, who are in their fifth season under head coach Chase Brooks, open at Marshall on Friday, August 24 at 7:00 p.m.
The Dukes return home to face Northern Kentucky (Aug. 31) and Detroit Mercy (Sept. 2) as part of the co-hosted Duquesne/Robert Morris Tournament.
DU stays home for three more matches against Saint Francis U (Sept. 12), Temple (Sept. 16) and Robert Morris (Sept. 19), prior to back-to-back games at Oakland (Sept. 22) and Wright State (Sept. 25).
An October 2 game versus Cleveland State completes the nonconference slate.
Duquesne opens its eight-game Atlantic 10 Conference schedule at home, three days before the CSU game, against Saint Joseph's (Sept. 29). Other home A-10 opponents include: Fordham (Oct. 10) Rhode Island (Oct. 20) and Davidson (Oct. 31).
DU will face VCU (Oct. 6), George Mason (Oct. 13), Saint Louis (Oct. 17) and St. Bonaventure (Oct. 27) on the road in conference play.
The top eight finishers will compete in the Atlantic 10 Championship with opening round games at the sites of the top four finishers on Nov. 3-4. The championship will conclude with semifinal and final games at the Saint Louis University's Hermann Stadium on Nov. 9 & 11.
2018 SCHEDULE QUICK NOTES
Duquesne will play a school record-tying 10 home matches. The last time DU played 10 at home was 2010 (2009 was the other). The Dukes will play six of nine nonconference matches on Rooney Field. Nine of the home games will start at 7:00 p.m. The lone exception is a 3:00 pm game vs. Detroit Mercy on Sunday, Sept. 2.
DU will play five members of the Horizon League in nonconference play: Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Oakland, Northern Kentucky and Wright State. Other conferences represented include the Northeast (Robert Morris & Saint Francis U), the American Athletic (Temple) and Conference USA (Marshall).
Duquesne will face one first-time opponent in Northern Kentucky.
The 13-team Atlantic 10 will maintain an eight-game schedule. The top eight teams will qualify for the Atlantic 10 Championship which will conclude at Saint Louis' Hermann Stadium November 9 & 11.
