Aug. 5, 2014
PITTSBURGH - Duquesne University head men's soccer coach Chase Brooks has announced that Josh Faga, a former standout player at Marist who has played for a pair of professional teams, has joined the coaching staff.
Faga, who signed his first professional contract with the Rochester Rhinos (USLPRO) in March of 2013, played for the Rhinos prior to moving on to the Rochester Lancers of the MASL where he competed this past season. An All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference caliber player as an undergrad, Faga was also a multiple-time member of the MAAC All-Academic Team.
"We're very excited to have Josh join us," said Brooks. "He brings a wealth of experience from his playing days at St. John's, Marist and at the professional level. I'm looking forward to him passing on what he has learned and helping us win a championship."
Faga began his collegiate career at St. John's where he played in 19 games, with 11 starts, as a redshirt freshman for the Red Storm's 2009 Big East champion and NCAA tournament qualifier. A Big East All-Academic honoree, he was a redshirt when SJU made its run to the 2008 College Cup semifinal.
"I am honored to join the Duquesne men's soccer program and work with Coach Brooks and [Assistant] Coach [Bryce] Cooper," said Faga. "I am extremely excited to share my collegiate and professional playing experience with the players and help Duquesne, in all aspects, contend for postseason play."
The Dukes, who will play exhibition games at Carnegie Mellon on August 20 and at Pitt on August 24, open the 2014 regular season at Marshall on Friday, August 29.
DU begins fall training on August 13.
