A-10 Release and Teams

Four Duquesne University men's soccer players received a total of five Atlantic 10 post-season awards as voted on by the league's coaches and sports information directors.

Senior defender Adam Clement (Erie, Pa./McDowell) was named First Team All-Conference while senior forward Joshua Patterson (Bowie, Md./Bowie) was named Second Team All-Conference. In addition, Patterson, junior forward Simon Gomez (Manizales, Colombia/Alonso) and senior midfielder Carter Poe (Chesterland, Ohio/West Geauga) were named Academic All-Conference.

Clement provided stellar defense for the Dukes at his center back position and tallied a goal and an assist for three points on the season.

Patterson, the 2011 Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, led the Dukes in scoring with 25 points on 11 goals and three assists. He has a 3.71 cumulative grade point average as a sports marketing major.

Despite missing six matches due to an injury, Gomez was third on the team in scoring with eight points on a goal and a team-best six assists. A two-time A-10 First Team All-Conference choice, Gomez is an athletic training major with a 3.82 cumulative gpa.

Poe boasts a cumulative gpa of 3.94 as an elementary education major. He started all 19 contests this season and scored the game-winning goal versus Fordham.

The Dukes finished the 2012 season with a 7-11-1 overall record and a 4-4-1 slate in Atlantic 10 play and will face top-seeded Charlotte Thursday evening in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championship in Charlotte.
