Joshua Patterson Named NSCAA Scholar All-American
Dec. 21, 2011
Duquesne University junior Joshua Patterson (Bowie, Md./Bowie) was recently named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America Team, the highest academic honor bestowed by the national organization. He follows Stefan Lundberg who was a Scholar All-American last season and is just the fifth Duquesne men's soccer player in program history to receive this award. Patterson was named to the national second team as well as to the Scholar All-East Region First Team.
The 2011 Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, Patterson was second on the Dukes and in the Atlantic 10 in scoring with 21 points on nine goals and three assists. A two-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week as well as a College Soccer News National Team of the Week honoree, he led the Atlantic 10 in conference scoring as nineteen of his 21 points came in A-10 play. Patterson has a 3.69 cumulative grade point average as a sports marketing major.
The entire Duquesne men's soccer team was also honored by the NSCAA with its Team Academic Award. The Dukes were selected for the 12th time in the 16-year history of the award. The award is given by the NSCAA to any college that posted a 3.00 cumulative grade point average or higher during the previous academic year. Duquesne was one of 220 men's programs, at all levels, to receive the distinction and was among a select few Division I programs honored.
