Dave Bocci returns to the Duquesne University swimming coaching staff for his seventh season with the Dukes. He will again assist head coach David Sheets with both the men's and women's programs.
Since taking over the sprint coaching duties in 2004, The Dukes have dominated the sprint events on a conference level. Under his tutelage, the sprinters have garnered eight individual conference championships as well as six relay titles. In 2006, Ed Wicker ran away with the 100 free title in a new conference record and NCAA "B" cut time. A 1992 graduate of Edinboro University, Bocci brings several years of coaching experience to the Dukes.
Bocci came to Duquesne after serving as the head swimming coach at Butler High School in 2000-01. At Butler, he led the Golden Tornadoes to a top eight finish in the WPIAL and had two state championship qualifiers. Prior to his head coaching position, he was an assistant to Sheets at Butler in 1999-2000.
At Edinboro, Bocci was an All-American and PSAC All-Conference member. A four-year letterman, he also served as team captain.
Bocci resides in Butler with his wife Amy and their sons David (6) and Andrew Scott (3).
