Dukes Grab Silver and Gold in First Two Events at A-10's

Duquesne's men's swimming team took home a first and second place finish in the first two events of the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championships Wednesday evening with school record times in the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
The team of freshman Mitchell Smith, senior Ian Walsh, junior Jim O'Hara and senior Brendan Schilling opened the men's competition by finishing second in the 200 medley relay with a school record time of 1:31.64, topping the previous standard set in 2007.
The Red and Blue wrapped up the day by taking first in the 800 free relay with an NCAA "B" qulifying standard and new DU record time of 6:40.84, nearly three seconds better than the previous time set in 2008. Etching their names in the record book were O'Hara, senior Chris Kobela, sophomore Roman Becicka and junior Edward LeBlanc.
The Championships continue Thursday morning with trials at 10:30 a.m.
and finals at 6:30 p.m.
