Men's Tennis Splits Weekend Matches

The Duquesne men's tennis team opened the Spring 2013 season by splitting a pair of matches. DU was a 5-2 winner over Northern Kentucky and fell 4-3 to Wright State.
Against NKU, the Dukes jumped out of the gates by securing the doubles point. Ben Klaas and Rich Robbie were 8-1 winners over NKU's Baint Zsidai and Jody Magilney 8-1 at the #3 spot. Alex Aleman and Corey Robinson defeated Jimmy Caccamo and Camern Johnson 8-2 at #2. The #1 doubles match was unfinished since the Dukes clinched the point. Pete Carpenter and Max Rubin were tied with Guillaume Berman and Pierce Kohls 5-5.
In singles, Rubin put the Dukes up 2-0 after a 6-0, 6-4 win over Magilney at #5 Aleman extended the DU lead to 3-0 after defeating Christopher Angulo at #3 6-2, 6-2. Harry Walshe clinched the match for Duquesne, winning 6-1, 6-3 at #6 over Zsidai. Robbie was a 6-4, 6-2 winner at #2 over Kohls.
The only two points NKU won was off of tiebreakers - after splitting the first two sets Berman took the tiebreaker 10-1 over Carpenter at #1 singes. Andre Correa edged Robinson 10-8 in the third set tiebraker at #4 singles.
The following day, Duquesne traveled to Dayton to face Wright State. WSU swept the doubles point. Robbie, Robinson and Walshe were winners at #2, #4 and #6 singles respectively.
Jan. 25th, the Dukes being a six match home stand beginning with James Madison.
