Dukes Brush Off Colgate, 6-1

Duquesne's men's tennis team improved its record to 5-2 with a 6-1 victory over visiting Colgate Saturday evening at The Club Sport and Health.
Doubles play opened with Aram Abgaryan and Pete Carpenter securing an 8-3 victory at first doubles. After losing 8-4 at number three, Alex Aleman and Rich Robbie gave the Dukes the doubles point with an 8-5 win at numbert two.
The Red and Blue won the first five singles matches with Abgaryan, Carpenter, Robbie, Aleman and Mehdi Mekaoui claiming wins. Ben Klaas suffered a hard fought 6-7(11), 7-6(10), 1-0(8) loss at number six.
"We played a fiesty Colgate team that came ready to compete today," said head coach Rob Castille. "I was very pleased that my guys matched their intensity and we were able to come away with a convincing 6-1 win. We worked on some things this past week that needed to get better and I was happy to see the improvement today."
"The guys will need to have a great week of practice as we have our first conference match next Saturday against St. Bonaventure," Castille continued. "I'm confident they will be up for the challenge."
The The SBU match is scheduled for 1:00 pm at the Club Sport and Health in Monroeville.
