Dukes Shot Out By Eckerd, 9-0

March 7, 2006

Results

St. Petersburg, Fla. - Duquesne's men's tennis team dropped the second match of their Florida Spring Break at NCAA Division II Eckerd College (8-1) by a 9-0 score.

Sophomore LaSalle transfer Blake Williams (Havertown, PA / DelCo Christian) battled to force a tiebreaker by winning the second set at no. 6 singles, 6-4, against the Tritons' Sanjar Shodiev. The deciding game went into overtime before Shodiev pulled out a 12-10 victory.

Division II teams score differently that Division I; each doubles match counts to the score vs. a best of three for one doubles point in Div. I.

The Dukes (6-8) next face another traveling team, Old Dominion, on Wednesday, March 8th in Orland, Fla.
