Williamsville, N.Y. - Duquesne University's men's tennis team, in their first match since returning from a four-game trek in Florida, was topped by Buffalo, 7-0, Saturday night at the Bulls' Village Glen Tennis Center.

Buffalo took the doubles point, 2-1. The Dukes' duo of senior Devon Peightal (Fairview, PA / Cathedral Prep) and sophomore Adam Townsend (Erie, PA / Cathedral Prep) topped UB's Yules Hadisubroto and Joe Popielarczyk, 8-4, to tie the doubles competition at 1-1. Buffalo won the third and deciding game.

The matches at numbers 1 and 2 singles both went to the super-tiebreaker game, after the host squad had won the other four singles matches in straight sets.

At number 2, Michael Ortega (Guaynabo, PR / Colegio Rosa Bell) won his first game against Nikesh Singh Panthlia, who rebounded to even the match and set up the super-tiebreaker. Panthia edged Ortega, 10-8, for Buffalo's fifth singles win. In the final match of the evening, at number 1, Peightal took the first game while Mike Rockman won the second forcing another sudden death game, won by Rockman, 10-3.

The Dukes remain in western New York as they will take on St. Bonaventure in Olean, N.Y. on Sunday, March 12, 2006 starting at 10:00 a.m.
