March 10, 2012

Duquesne's men's tennis team battled to the end, but lost a 4-3 decision to visiting Wright State on Saturday.

Rich Robbie was the lone Duke to win in both singles and doubles. He teamed with Alex Aleman at third doubles to get DU's only win in doubles before winning 6-0, 6-3 at number three singles.

Also winning in singles play were Aram Abgaryan with a 6-3, 6-1 decision at number one and Mehdi Mekaoui with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at number six.

"This was a very well played, competitive match against a solid Wright State team and we came up just short," said head coach Rob Castille. The doubles point proved to be the difference today but I felt we did a number of things better that we had been working on this week. We will continue to address the things that need improvement and hopefully apply those in our next match."

The Dukes return to action on Saturday, March 17 as they host Buffalo at 3:00 pm at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford
