Men's Tennis Sweeps Weekend Matches

HARMAR, Pa. - The Duquesne men's tennis team won a pair of Atlantic 10 matches over the weekend defeating Dayton 5-2 and Saint Joseph's 6-1. The pair of victories pushes the Dukes record to 11-3, 4-1 A-10. The Dukes are 8-1 at home.
Against the Flyers, the Dukes swept the doubles point with all three pairings winning: #1 Pete Carpenter and Alex Aleman 8-4, #2 Max Rubin and Corey Robinson 8-2, and #3 Rich Robbie and Ben Klaas 8-6. The Dukes won two thirds of the singles matches, all in two sets. #2 Carpenter won 6-2, 6-1 and #4 Aleman won 6-1, 6-0. # 5 Rubin and #6 Klaas also won their matches respectively 6-3, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-1.
The Dukes were able to stretch their winning streak to four against the Hawks. Once again the Dukes swept the doubles point with all three pairings winning. They only dropped one point in singles play, with five Dukes claiming victories. #1 Robbie won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, and #2 Carpenter won 6-2, 6-2. #4 Aleman won 6-3, 6-2 to increase his season wins total to 14, best on the team. #5 Rubin and #6 Walshe also won their matches with the same score of 7-5, 6-2.
The Dukes return to action at home this Friday against Cleveland State, tentatively scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The men's match will be played after the women's match against Youngstown State, scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
