Dukes Split Washington, D.C. Weekend

Washington, D.C. - Duquesne University's men's tennis team split a pair of weekend road matches against two teams in our nation's capital.

After dropping a 4-3 match to George Washington Saturday evening, the Dukes edged Georgetown by the same score Sunday afternoon.

Duquesne won four singles matches to secure the win versus the Hoyas at GU's McDonough Tennis Complex.

On Saturday against GW at the Regency Sport & Health Club in McLean, Va., the Dukes won the doubles point, 2-1, and took two singles matches. The Colonials grabbed the W by taking three-set contests at #4 and #5 singles.

Sophomores Paul Clough and Blake Williams won both their singles bouts. Senior Devon Peightal and sophomore Michael Ortega were victorious against Georgetown.

Senior Michael Belmonte teamed with classmate Rob Ojeda for a doubles win over the Colonials. Ortega and Clough picked up the other doubles victory on Saturday.

Duquesne completes the regular season this weekend in Philadelphia, Pa. starting with a non-conference match at Villanova on Sat. April 1st. Saint Joseph's hosts the Dukes Sunday morning.
