Dukes Shut Out Fordham at A-10s, 4-0

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Duquesne University's men's tennis team, the number five seed in this week's Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament, shut out #12 Fordham, 4-0, Thursday afternoon at Club 4 Life in Monroeville, Pa.

The Dukes opened play by winning the doubles point, taking two of the three doubles matches. Mark Maciuch and Jeremy McClelland took second doubles from Peter Slucky and Dallas Harting while Michael Ortega and Ryan Weisband won at third doubles over Sotiris Georgiou and Ben Ehrman. The third match was stopped when this best-of-three point was decided.

Duquesne swept three singles matches in straight sets as Ortega topped Harting at no. 2, McCelland beat Peter Zipf at no. 4, and Maciuch took Patrick Tool at no. 5. The remaining contests were halted once the decision was certain.

Duquesne meets #4 St. Bonaventure, which beat #13 La Salle, tonight in a quarterfinal match at 8:00 p.m. The Rams move into the consolation bracket and will face Rhode Island, seeded 11th, Friday morning at 8:00 a.m.
