Duquesne Tennis Announces Hirings of Carpenter, Steiner as Assistant Coaches

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne Director of Tennis Rob Gregoire has announced the completion of his staff with the hirings of men's assistant coach Pete Carpenter and women's assistant coach Vanessa Steiner.

Carpenter, who graduated from Duquesne in May with a degree in supply chain management, was a four-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection. He finished with 132 career victories which is third all-time in program history.

A scholar student-athlete, Carpenter was on the 2014 A-10 Academic All-Conference team and was a fixture on the Dean's List, Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Director of Athletics Honor Roll.

Steiner, who has served as both the men's and women's graduate assistant the past two seasons, played one season with Duquesne, was a 2012 Atlantic 10 First-Team All-Conference selection while posting a 38-16 overall record.

Prior to her arrival on the Bluff, she played three years at Boston University where she was named America East First-Team All-Conference.

The Pittsburgh native graduated from BU with a degree in elementary education in 2011 and received her master's degree in education - English as a second language in 2013. She is a pursuing a doctorate in instructional technology and educational leadership.

As a student-athlete, Steiner was a member of the Dean's List, Director of Athletics' Honor Roll and Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
