Duquesne's men's cross country, men's outdoor track and lacrosse programs all scored a perfect 1,000 for the 2009-10 academic year and 14 of DU's 16 athletics programs scored above the national average in its sport according to the latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) report released on May 24.

Sophomore Jim Spisak placed fourth of 36 runners in the 5,000 meter run at the IC4A Championship with a school record time of 14:04.26 and qualified to compete in the 2011 NCAA Track & Field Championship - East Preliminary to be held May 26-28 in Bloomington, Ind.

A total of 67 percent of the 353 student-athletes from Duquesne University have earned a spot on the Director of Athletics' Honor Roll for the end of the 2011 spring semester. To earn this distinction, student-athletes must have achieved at least a 3.0 grade point average for the semester.

Duquesne's men's track & field team broke seven school records and claimed seven medals in finishing fifth at the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championship at Charlotte May 7-8.

Duquesne's men's track & field team placed second of six teams at the Bucknell Team Challenge held April 23rd. Junior Vibert Defreitas led the Dukes by tallying 25 teams points.

Duquesne's men's track & field team competed in the Bucknell Open and Distance Carnival over the weekend and came home with a few stellar times and finishes. Mark Bucklaw and Mike Stolar qualified for the IC4A Championship.
