QUICK RECAP: Duquesne's men's track and field team opened the 2015 season by participating in the Wake Forest Open and CalU Early Bird meets March 20-21.

At Wake Forest, senior Evan Gomez placed fifth of 46 runners in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:53.69. He was followed by sophomore Rico Galassi in 12th in 3:57.91.

In addition, junior Aaron Wilkinson finished seventh of 54 runners in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:04.72 and senior Ian Welch captured third of 30 in the triple jump with a school record distance of 48-02.75.

At Cal., senior Kevin Yacker placed sixth of 31 in the javelin with a throw of 158-11 while freshman Matt Dombrowski took ninth of 42 in the shot put with a a heave of 42-09.

UP NEXT: The Dukes travel to Williamsburg, Va. for the two-day Colonial Relays on April 3-4.
