Kevin Borelli's Third Place Leads Dukes At Raleigh Relays

Raleigh, N.C. - Duquesne University's junior Kevin Borelli (Dickson City, PA / Mid-Valley) opened the outdoor track and field season with a third place finish in the men's unseeded 10,000 meter run at the Raleigh Relays at NC State's Derr Track on Friday. Borelli completed the race with a time of 31:53.04. Classmate Jeremy Snodgrass's (N. Huntington, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) mark of 33:25.82 was good for 16th place (of 31 runners) on the first day of this highly regarded yearly event. On Saturday, sophomore Gary Malinko (Old Forge, PA / Scranton Prep) finished 10th of 65 runners with a time of 3:53.55. DU's 4x800 meter relay team's mark of 7:51.25 was good for 15th place in the 36 team race. In other day one activity, junior Ryan Bender (Indiana, PA / Indiana) finished 15th of 34 runners in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 30:50.03. DU's 4x1500 meter relay team grabbed 10th place (of 27 teams) with a mark of 16:00.24. And freshman Brent Rogus (Monroeville, PA / Gateway), in his first varsity collegiate competition, came in 15th in the unseeded 66-runner 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:28.99.
DU's next event is the Western PA Intercollegiate Championships next Saturday, April 3, 2004 on Saturday in Pittsburgh.
