Indiana, Pa. - Duquesne's men's outdoor track and field team finished third in this weekend's 13-team Western Pennsylvania Championships at Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Miller Stadium. The DU women's team also captured third at this event.

The Dukes strongest performance was in the 1500 meter run where the Red and Blue took three of the top four slots led by sophomore Derek Dutille (Lebanon, NH / Lebanon) who won the race with a time of 4:01.46. Senior Eric Robertson finished second just 0.61 seconds off Dutille's pace.

Sophomore Josh Eddy (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills), who was third in the 1500, won the 5,000 meter run in 14:50.54.

Duquesne's 4 x 800 meter relay team of Robertson, junior Tom Slosky (Brackenridge, PA / Highlands), and freshmen Kyle Dorman (Imperial, PA / West Allegheny) and Michael Smith (Pittsburgh, PA / West Mifflin) also took a gold with a time of 8:00.80.

The team took a pair of silvers in the field events. Sophomore Ryan Miller and freshman John Clifford each finished second in the discuss throw and high jump, respectively.

The Dukes' next event will be in Durham, N.C. for the Duke Invitational. The two-day event will be held at Wallace Wade Stadium April 6 and 7.
