Men's Track Opens Season at Fred Hardy Invitational

Duquesne's men's track and field team opened the 2013 slate by competing in the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond over the weekend. The Dukes were led by Shakeil Carter and Evan Gomez who had second place finishes.
Carter took second in the 200-meter dash in a field of 53 runners with a time of 21.81. Evans's second place showing came in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:17.70.
Also finishing second was the 4x100 relay team of Carter, Joe Borsuk, Paul Blinn and Vibert Defreitas. They set a school record with a time of 41.58. Bob Gasior captured third in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:52.46 and Jonatahn Dorph tid for third in the pole vault with a height of 14-11.25.
The Dukes return to action on April 4 as they compete in the three-day Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va.
