Dukes Turn in Solid Performance at Colonial Relays

Duquesne's men's track & field team placed 11th of 27 teams at the 2012 Colonial Relays April 6-7 with 31.5 teams points. Four Dukes exceeded IC4A qualifying standards at the event.

Two Dukes also set school records as junior Jim Spisak placed second of 66 runners in the 5,000 meter run with a school record and IC4A qualifying time of 13:50.44 while senior V.J. DeFreitas placed seventh of 43 runners in the 200 meter dash with a school record and IC4A qualifying time of 21.61.

Freshman Ian Welch captured fourth place in the long jump with an IC4A qualifying leap of 23-04.75, junior Cam Stauffer finished seventh of 26 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with an IC4A qualifying time of 9:12.59 and freshman Dante DaBaldo placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 136-06.

The Dukes return to action on Friday, April 13 as they compete in the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell.
