DU Track & Field Turns in Top Times at Colonial Relays

Duquesne's men's track and field team finished up the Colonial Relays on Saturday with several new season best times, led by Ian Welch who broke the school record in the triple jump with a distance of 48-00.75 to finish third in the 23-jumper field.
Evan Gomez had a second place showing out of 41 runners in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:58.56 while Shakeil Carter took fourth in the 40-runner 100 meter dash with a 10.93 in the preliminaries and a 10.96 in the finals.
Carter also scored team points in the 200 meter dash with an 8th place time of 21.98 as did Chuck Lockwood in the 3,000, finishing eighth in 8:41.91.
The Dukes return to action on April 13 as the distance runners head to Bucknell for the Bison Outdoor Classic and the sprinters and field athletes go to Robert Morris for the Bennie Benson Memorial.
